Demilitarization of outdated combat resources

On 8th October 2007 there was ceremonial completion of the construction of  Demilitarization of Outdated Ammunition Stockpiles Plant in Zakłady Metalowe MESKO S.A. After completed installation of technological line on 31st March 2008 whole project under the name “Construction of the line designated for demilitarization of wastes and outdated ammunition stockpiles in ZM MESKO S.A.” was transferred to use.

Within the framework of Offset Contract for the purchase of F16 Fighting Falcon and within the framework of the Sectoral Operational Programme "Improvement of the Competitiveness of Enterprises, years 2004 – 2006”under the agreement ( concluded with National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management) concerning additional financing of above - mentioned project co-financed by the European Union from the resources of European Regional Development Fund and National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, modern Demilitarization of Outdated Ammunition Stockpiles Plant was built.

Constructed technological line allows for demilitarization of small- and medium- caliber ammunition 5,56 – 35 mm, artillery ammunition cal. 57 – 152 mm and fuzes, grenades, mines, powders and pyrotechnic materials through detonation and incineration.

Demilitarization process is carried out safely, ecologically and fulfils the regulations of the EU directive.

Thermal demilitarization of:

  • 5,56 – 35mm ammunition,
  • grenades,
  • fuzes,  igniters, primers,
  • pyrotechnic materials, without disassembling.

Trinitrotoluene (TNT) melting with “dry” method from rounds cal. 57 – 152 mm.

  • Cutting and burning of different types of ammunition,
  • Components of explosives,
  • De-banding.

The line meets all EU requirements of safety and environmental protection (The European Directive 94/67/EG)
